Take the A61 from Harrogate towards Ripley, at Ripley take the B6165 to Pateley Bridge. At Pateley Bridge head towards Middlesmoor, it is well signposted. It's abour 7 miles to Middlesmoor a small village on the top of a hill side.

You have to pass through Middlesmoor to reach the car park and the start of the walk. The car park only holds 8 cars but you can usually find space in the village anyway. If you have seen American Warewolf in London, Middlesmoor may disturb you! It has the feel of the film, you know open to the elements and not to many people around etc.

From the car park turn left and walk up the road, it soon becomes a gravel track that seems to go on forever. After about 20 minutes, depending on how fast you walk, you should reach a point where you can see down to the Reservoir and Dam.

This is a very steep rocky decline, so don't wear high heels, this applies to the ladies too! Good sensible boots is what you need. At the bottom of the hill you can cross the Dam, circle the Reservoir crossing back over the dam at the Angram Reservoir. Arriving back at the bottom of the hill, where there are toilets by the way, for your return walk across the top of the fell to the Middlesmoor car park.

There is a pub in Middlesmoor (not the Slaughtered Lamb though) where you may want to wet your whistle before your journey home.
